SCHOLARSHIP
APPLICATION INFORMATION


Applicants for the John Cambra Agriculture/Mechanics Scholarship (JCAMS) must:
be Manteca or Ripon, California, high school graduating seniors or college students with a                 cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.  College students must have resided in Manteca or
       Ripon, California, prior to entering secondary education.
be a U. S. citizen or legal permanent resident;
be enrolled in a course of study pertaining to agriculture or mechanics for the coming                        academic year, including junior college prerequisites;
demonstrate financial need.

Awards
If selected, the recipient will receive an award of at least $250.

Application forms and instructions may be obtained by calling (209) 823-6445 or (209) 239-3400 or by email at jcamsf@comcast.net.  Completed application packets are to be returned to JCAMSF, P O Box 4092, Manteca, CA 95337, BEFORE:
      April 30, 2012, if a high school graduating senior.
      May 31, 2012, if a college/university student.

Applicants are responsible for completing, gathering, and submitting all of the required information and documentation.  Applications are evaluated on the information supplied; therefore, it is important that all questions be answered as thoroughly as possible.  Incomplete evaluations will not be evaluated.  All information received is considered confidential and will be reviewed only by the JCAMSF Selection Committee.   Misleading information could result in the termination of any award granted.

Selection
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of financial need, academic record, school or community activities participation, work experience, and mission statement.  All applicants agree to accept the Selection Committee’s decision as final.  All applicants will receive written notification of the final outcome of their application. 

Payment of Scholarships and Obligations
Scholarship payments will be processed in August.  Checks will be mailed to the recipient’s home address and made payable to the school.  Recipients are to notify the Selection Committee of any changes to address and/or school enrollment and provide a transcript or progress report when requested.

Make sure you:
read the application carefully;
answer all questions completely and honestly;
submit a signed, dated and complete application packet by the application deadline;
include all required documents in the application packet;
meet all applicable criteria – GPA, field of study, etc.;
are NEAT and legible when completing application (clearly printed in blue or black ink);
use proper English (correct grammar and spelling);
are clear, brief, and thorough when stating goals and financial need;
include in the mission statement your potential service to the agriculture or mechanics
field.
